Now comfortable in its new home of The Deaf Institute, Funkademia, Manchester’s longest-running club night, is teaming up with self-described "organic bass" promoter Mukes this Saturday (2nd November).
Funkademia has been filling dancefloors since 1995, putting smiles on faces and leading singalongs to huge hits. Formerly in Mint Lounge, the party recently moved over to The Deaf Institute, with more room for dancers and more areas.
Now with three floors of music to explore, Funkademia brings those timeless classics from funk, disco, and soul. Expect tunes from Chic, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Sister Sledge, James Brown, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, and more as you dance beneath a giant disco ball.
Meanwhile, Mukes - Ancient Greek for mushroom or fungus - takes over a room, bringing a range of genres, including DnB, garage, and UK funky. But before they get into the heavier sounds, they'll be spinning some hip-hop and R&B earlier in the night.
Adored for its raw and underground energy (and tongue-in-cheek promo on social media), Mukes is all about community, caring for the environment, and non-stop heavy basslines. A firm favourite in Manchester’s underground, they’ve taken over some iconic venues like Hidden, The DBA, and Leeds’ Beaver Works for Halloween. Going from strength to strength, they’re one of the north’s hottest up-and-coming promoters.
Finally, in the basement, you’ll find karaoke! Essentially three different nights out in one, it’s the perfect event to keep everyone in your friend group happy.
Tickets for Funkademia with Mukes are on sale now. Secure your tickets now towards the bottom of this page for this huge multi-genre bash.
