Bass heads out there should be no stranger to the name 'Mollie Collins'. An envied technician behind the wheels of steel and a mastered production whiz, she's been turning venues inside out and lighting up audiences with her own blend of melodic drum n bass since 2015.
During the seven years she's been operating within the drum n bass scene, she's collected numerous accolades, the likes of the 'Best Breakthrough DJ' and 'Best Female Artist' at the Drum and Bass Awards, toured the world, appearing in front of thousands of fans at some of the world's biggest bass events, hosted radio shows on behalf of Kiss FM, and even found the time to launch her own record label - Right Good Records.
Now busy preparing her already accomplished live show, ahead of the coming festival season, we caught up with the stellar DJ talent to chat about her plans for 2022, noting her favourite festival events, the likes of In It Together in Wales, and learning which anthems we can expect to hear in a Mollie Collins live set this summer.
Check out the exclusive Beats Per Minute playlist Mollie graciously agreed to create for Skiddle, below, and continue reading for the full interview...
You’ve got a HUGE summer planned with performances lined up at festivals like Manchester’s Parklife and In It Together in Port Talbot, Wales. Do you have a favourite festival event and if so, why?
"A huge summer ahead indeed, and I can't wait! I've never really had favourites, however the summer festival season is fast becoming a favourite time of year for me. After COVID basically shut everything down, it was good to get back out performing last summer. If last year was anything to go by, 2022 should be insane! I'm really looking forward to all the events this year."

The calibre of acts due to appear alongside yourself at some of these events it’s pretty impressive. Is there anyone that you're particularly looking forward to watching live at said festivals?
"I've got a pretty eclectic taste and really enjoy bouncing around stages, listening to a varied mix of artists. Particularly those I'm into outside of the drum n bass world. Seeing 50 Cent at Parklife this year for example. That would be so sick!"

We’ve tasked you with creating us a very special and exclusive playlist, featuring some of the tracks fans can expect to hear in your live sets this year. Which out of the fifteen are you most likely to drop at the end of the night, and which would you say gets the best reaction from the crowd?
"99% of the time, I drop something new at the end of my sets, something that no ones heard that I've produced. Other than my own, one of the tracks that always gets a reaction from the crowd is the Wilkinson remix of Sub Focus' 'Rock it'."
-
When it comes to DJs in the drum n bass world, who are you most influenced by and who’s the best selector in the game, in your opinion?
"Tough question. I love a lot of different DJs in drum n bass. There are so many with different styles and approaches to mixing, but I'd have to say one of my top all-time favourites is A.M.C. I love the energy in his sets and the fast past approach to mixing. He's also a very lovely guy."

You’ve recently released a brand new single, ‘Be Mine’, with Jordanian singer-songwriter, Ayah Marar. Can bass heads expect more new music to come this year?
"Oh yes. There's so much more music to come this year. I'm certainly not slowing down with the tunes! There's a good mixture of styles of D'n'B too and a few more great collaborations on the way."
-
Can we also expect to see some more new releases via your own imprint, Right Good Records?
"Yes, lots to come on the label this year, from both myself and a host of other exciting talents. Keep an eye on the Right Good Records social media pages for more details coming soon."

We frequently take this opportunity when interviewing our BPM playlist creators, to find out which new and exciting artists are on their radar. Artists always seem to get the scoop before anyone else. So, are there any emerging names you think we ought to take note of?
"For sure! There is a duo from New Zealand who I'm in really into at the moment, called Pirapus. I first learnt about them on my tour last November, they sent over some tracks which are all wicked. They've got a lot of releases planned this year, so I've been told. Definitely a pair to look out for."
-
Ending on a tough one - You can play only one of the fifteen records you’ve chosen for your Beats Per Minute playlist, for the rest of the year. Which would it be and why?
"Well, I'm not ashamed to say it would have to be one of my own haha! 'Remedies' featuring Ruth Royall, of course,"
