Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix AKA internationally renowned techno twosome, Pan-Pot have set a high standard for current and emerging contemporary techno acts. Leading by example on the global stage for the best part of two decades, they're still easily one of the most influential double acts on the scene.

The respected pair, who've been producing and performing techno records together since first meeting at creative German institute, the acclaimed SAE Berlin back in 2003, have become widely admired by techno connoisseur's the world over. Known for their minimal yet menacing trademark sound, featured best on tracks such as 'Onno' and recent release 'Voodoo, Pan-Pot's discography offers club revellers a variety of moods and sonic soundscapes. Whether it's a frenzied techno stormer needed to reignite a waning crowd in the small hours or an atmospheric intermission for a strategic mid-set lull, you're sure to find something to fit the requirement of every situation in this duo's extensive back catalogue.

Having been absent from the live scene for over a year and a half, and with months of studio time under their belt, they're now finally back out on the road delivering new and unheard music to dance floor starved audiences across Europe.

We caught up with Ippenberger and Benedix to find out what we can expect from the pair in the not-so-distant future and the tracks ravers can expect to hear live within their setlist at events this year. Check out Pan-Pot's selections in the Beats Per Minute playlist below...

Following a pretty substantial period of silence on the clubbing scene, you’ve both been out on a mission, delivering monstrous live sets in clubs and venues, and at open-air events the likes of last month’s Mint Festival. Have there been any particular highlights since returning to the stage? Any emotive moments behind the decks or occasions you’ll find hard to forget?

"First of all, it feels really good to be back behind the decks and on stage. We are grateful to be back at it, even though we know it is still a fragile boat we’re riding. For that reason, it feels like every show has this energy you almost can’t describe. It’s a mix of the ultimate excitement to rejoice in being together, but it’s mixed with the fear that this could be gone again in a second.

We just played a pretty big indoor rave in Brussels /Belgium, called 'Rave Rebels', which was organized by the guys from Kompass Club. We played the closing on a Sunday morning, and it felt so good to see the raving, sweating crowd dancing shoulder to shoulder. A very happy and memorable moment."

Are there any events or clubs in particular that you can’t wait to get back to? Maybe somewhere you find the crowds to be the wildest?

"Watergate, Berlin and Input Club, Barcelona."

You issued a two-track techno onslaught over the summer - the Voodoo Signs EP - which had fans the world over raring to get back to the dance floor. Can we expect more new music from Pan-Pot before the year is out? And has the past 18 months had an effect on how you both produce music?

"Thank you, we're glad to hear that!

"We have a few remixes coming out at the end of this year,  a collaboration with Thomas Hoffknecht, due for release at end of October on Thomas’ label, and our next EP, our 100th release on our label, Second State, will be out towards the beginning of 2022.

"The pandemic period forced us back into the studio. Before that, we used our travel time to get productions done, mostly on our laptops, as the frequency of travelling was so high. We're really enjoying getting together in the studio and digging deep into production right now."

We’ve tasked you with creating a fifteen track Beats Per Minute playlist, featuring some of the records techno fans can expect to hear live in your sets this year. Apart from your own, if you could choose only three records to spin, which would you pick and why?

"Robert Hood - Fear Not (Really hypnotic and banging at the same time), Baugruppe 90 und Tim Rausch - Destiny (Groovy, crunchy and with a lot of smack) and BLEAK - Haiko (Because of the pad. What comes 3 minutes in is a lovely surprise)."

Advocates of upcoming talent, you’re regularly seen pushing new music via your own platforms (check out YouTube series - Essentials). Are there any DJs or acts that have really impressed and/or excited you both as of late? Anyone you think we should be keeping an eye on?

"Oh definitely. We’ve always believed in pushing young/fresh talent. That's how we got our break when we first started.

"Right now, we recommend you keep your eyes open for names like: Charly Schaller, Indira Paganotto, Hollden, Kai Van Dongen and Baugruppe 90."

Finally, what are Pan-Pot’s ambitions and goals going into 2022? Where would you like to see yourself this time next year? And is there anything in the pipeline you can exclusively share with Skiddle?

"We’ll be back on a 'normal' touring schedule in 2022. Besides that, we hope we can finalize a few projects we started during the pandemic, such as our 'virtual unreality' show concept; a hybrid event method and a solution to further lockdowns etc. If you’d like to know more, check out our collaboration from IN X SPACE & NEXR.

"We are very grateful to have the opportunity to start these new projects, but let's be real, we are most grateful to be back on the road and in the clubs once again!"
