With us being drip fed details of Bedrock’s 15th birthday celebrations over the past month or so (read our previous preview here), we have now finally been treated to the full upcoming line up, and it’s looking really quite special.

Added to John Digweed’s hotly anticipated six hour set, the release of his and Nick Muir’s Versus album, the arrival of Jimmy Van Malleghem, Julian Jeweil and Max Cooper (as if all that wasn’t enough), is three more forward thinking artists that round off a seriously impressive bill to appear at Fire on October 5th.

The Japanese Popstars - No Music / Pump Power

First up is The Japanese Popstars. The Derry based electronic outfit have since 2006 been one of the most impressive live acts on the scene, regularly winning Best Live Act at the Irish Music Awards. Their unique blend of forward thinking electronics and dancefloor finesse have gained them much recognition on the scene. Collaborating with a wide range of artists including Robert Smith, Green Velvet, Lisa Hannigan, Tom Smith from The Editors and Morgan Kibby from M83, The Japanese Popstars have become a force to be reckoned with, a group that produce intelligent leftfield pop music that engages the underground as well as the mainstream. Their release on Bedrock (above) has aimed firmly for the dancefloor, becoming one of the biggest underground hits of the year.

Dave Angel Live @ Dance Valley

Joining them will be Dave Angel. A legend in his own right, Dave Angel has been one of the figureheads of UK techno and house. Since his unique remix of Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams in 1990, Dave has worked with the likes of Fabio & Grooverider and set up his own label, in time settling into his own brand of jazz and funk influenced techno. His sound has a signature relentless pounding vibe to it that has lit dancefloors across the world and continues to do so.

Eagles & Butterflies - Kolleckt

And finally, Bedrock favourites Eagles & Butterflies will get into the mix. Chris Barratt’s lush atmospheric tech house sensibilities have been aired on a number of John Digweed’s mixes, notably on the Bedrock 14 and John Digweed Live in London. His presence at Bedrock’s 15th Birthday will be the icing on the cake for what promises to be an outstanding night of electronic music, a celebration of the wide ranging sound of the Bedrock label.
