We were all saddened when the announcement came in on Monday that Modeselektor's long running, much adored 50 Weapons imprint would soon be coming to an end.
In the past nine years, it's housed ground-breaking work from the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Cosmin TRG, Bambounou, Shed, Addison Groove and many more, leaving behind a trail of blistering techno and bass, leaning on the experimental and the edgy, much like Modeselektor have done since they broke out in the early 2000s.
Welsh producer Benjamin Damage, who made his 50 Weapons début in 2010 is the man that will bring the legacy to a close, with his forthcoming LP Obsidian, set to be released on September 25th. He told RA "Obsidian is a collection of fragmented memories from all the music I've ever liked, distorted and restructured into a full-length techno record... It's a purely personal project and an end of an era with 50 Weapons."
