Big Country have announced details of a UK wide autumn tour. The Scottish 80s punk rockers will play at MK11 Music Venue in Milton Keynes on Thursday 11th October, Gorilla in Manchester on Friday 2nd November, Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on Saturday 3rd November, Chinnerys in Southend On Sea on Friday 9th November, The Roadmender in Northampton on Saturday 10th November, Under The Bridge in London on Friday 16th November and The Old Market in Brighton & Hove on Saturday 17th November.
The band formed in 1981 and almost four decades later have, via their esteemed reputation as a live act, lost none of their pulling power among their dedicated audience. Provisional tickets for the London and Leeds dates have already sold out, however you can apply for waiting list tickets on Skiddle for those dates or buy one for any of the others here.
Should you not be able to catch them at this time, the band also play a Scottish punk double header with countrymen Skids at Preston Guild Hall in Preston on Saturday 19th January 2019. Founding Big Country member Stuart Adamson was a member of both bands.
Big Country's Scottish folk music-infused punk rock sound became a huge hit in the 1980s, with songs like 'In A Big Country', 'Fields Of Fire' and 'Look Away' rising to the top of the pop charts and being performed in stadium venues. The band contributed to the Band Aid 'Do They Know It's Christmas' single and famously recorded the soundtrack to one of the defining Scottish films of the decade, 'Restless Natives'. Having toured with new singer Simon Hough since 2013, original band members Bruce Watson and Mark Brzezicki remain constants in the band.
