It’s been a summer of fun and festivals and it may be that Boundary Festival, which took place on Saturday 30th September in one of our favourite coastal cities, Brighton, is perhaps the very last one to make its mark in 2017. And for those seeking one last day of summer revelry and decent tunes, with an impressive line-up of top DJs, Boundary Festival definitely proved to be a great option on the south coast.

A headlining DJ set from festival-hoppers Chase & Status along with welcome appearances from American DJ and producer MK, drum & bass royalty Andy C and Birmingham-born Hannah Wants across three different stages gave us faith that it would be a good’en.

Our first stop was, of course, the bar and the short queue was an unexpected yet very refreshing surprise. We soon bounded over to the tented Brighton ROX Main Stage (we would be very grateful for the cover later). There we bounced around to Jaguar Skills’ jam-packed set, enjoying a varied mix of remixed hits, including a surprising welcome of the Kaiser Chiefs' 2005 success ‘I Predict A Riot’ which suitably had everyone leaping around wildly.

Soon seeking a change of scenery, we head over to the alfresco Worried About Henry stage starring S.P.Y who thrilled with his drum and bass and garage influenced sounds.

Although it was a small site, there still seemed a fair bit to do excluding the music of course and we soon found ourselves drawn to the funfair area, the spinning Waltzer ride catching our eye. It was a rapid, dizzy yet extremely exhilarating experience being thrown around with blaring tunes as background noise and there was no doubt at all that I was thoroughly enjoying my day of revelry. We may or may not have visited the Waltzer once more that night…

Next up was a DJ we had always wanted to see but for some reason or other had never got round to catching – the acclaimed Hannah Wants. As expected she killed it and despite droplets pouring down on us we happily raved in rain until the end of her fervent set.

We couldn’t finish off our night before popping in to see old favourites Chase & Status on the decks in the Brighton ROX Main Stage, joined with MC Rage. There we danced our socks off to some of their drum and bass classics including the likes of ‘Take Me Away’, ‘Flashing Lights’ and their famed no. 1 dance hit ‘Blind Faith’.

Paired with spangling flashing lights and tonnes of excitement from their throngs of fans, it made for the ideal finale to the last festival of the summer. Thanks for making easing into autumn just that little bit more bearable, Boundary!
