20TH BULLDOG BASH 2006 : 10TH / 11TH /12TH /13TH AUGUST

Shakespeare County Raceway, Long Marston, Nr Stratforf On Avon, Warwickshire.

Pitchshifter, The Almighty, Hundred Reasons, Engerica, The Answer, Losing Sun, Rattlesnake Remedy, Hells Bells and Sweet Black Angels have all been confirmed to play at the twentieth annual Bulldog Bash, which takes place August 10th, 11th 12th, & 13th at the festival's usual site at Shakespeare County Raceway, Long Marston, near Stratford On Avon, Warwickshire.

The Bulldog Bash is widely acknowledged as the safest live music festival in Britain – but it is much, much more than just a gig; The Bulldog Bash is the best biker event in Europe. A huge variety of non-musical attractions includes jet-force cars and rocket propelled bikes hurtling down the drag strip, huge custom bike and car exhibitions, an awesome dance tent, a topless bike (& anything else) wash, wrestling bouts, a veritable village of stalls and loads of ludicrous white-knuckle rides.

The 20th Anniversary Bulldog Bash boasts some of Britain’s best rock acts on the main stage.

The original line-up of The Almighty, the Scottish hard rockers who notched up eight top 40 singles in the early/mid 90’s, will reform once more for their only UK Festival appearance in 2006. Having split in 1996, the band reformed in January to raise money for Leukemia research, after bassist Floyd was diagnosed with it. The Almighty’s Ricky Warwick states that "Since the 2 benefit shows The Almighty played at the beginning of this year (2006), the positive feedback and fun we had doing them has resulted in us accepting a formal invitation to headline The Bulldog Bash on Friday 11th August! This year will be the third time The Almighty have played the event. The guys are honoured to be asked to make a return to the Bash, and Ricky, Floyd London, Stumpy and Pete are really looking forward to kickin’ out the jams!!!!!!!"

Pitchshifter, the pioneers of rocktronica, whose band-induced stage invasion at the Phoenix Festival (held at the same site in Stratford Upon Avon a decade ago) is now infamous, headline on Saturday 12th August. Pitchshifter, who have just released, their limited edition ‘None For All and All For One EP on their own PSI Records label, have stamped their own unique blend of guitar-laden digital chaos the world over. Pitchshifter’s music has been used by industry giants such as Volkswagen to promote the release of their Vortex edition Beetle. The band's music has also been used in major motion pictures, trailers and soundtracks, from ‘Mortal Kombat’ (which earned the band their first platinum sales disc) and ‘Paycheck’ (starring Ben Affleck & Uma Thurman, directed by John Woo) to cult classic ‘The Crow’ and oddball Sci-Fi thriller ‘Brainscan’ starring Edward Furlong. Pitchshifter singer J.S. Clayden who is looking forward to hooking up with old friends The Almighty and fellow This Is Menace cohorts Hundred Reasons says; "It'll be nice to see Ricky, Colin and the boys again, and it’ll be awesome to play a UK summer show. We’ll be hitting the drag strip and custom bikes show. We may partake of the topless bike wash . . .but only in an advisory capacity, just to make sure they don’t miss any spots!"

Hundred Reasons, whose third album, ‘Kill Your Own’, was released on March 20th on V2 Records, are Special Guest act on Saturday 12th August. "The best work of their career. It’s the record we’ve been waiting for" said Rock Sound, while Kerrang! stated that "If you’d forgotten why you fell in love with Hundred Reasons in the first place, ‘Kill Your Own’ will remind you." NME said "Marvellous". Hundred Reasons were voted Best New Band in Kerrang! in 2000 and have since gone on to score six Top 40 singles and sell over 200,000 albums. A new single, ‘The Perfect Gift’, taken from ‘Kill Your Own’, is set for release on May 29th.

Engerica, the young Essex power trio who have just been nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ in Metal Hammer’s October 2006 Golden Globe Awards, released their debut album ‘There Are No Happy Endings’ on Sanctuary Records on March 13th. Engerica have drawn comparisons to everyone from Refused to early Manic Street Preachers and Dinosaur Jr. to Every Time I Die. Singer Dave Gardner states that ‘"When we first started out we wanted to be the next Nirvana. Unfortunately we were 14 years old at the time so it wasn’t really going to work. So, three years later, when we formed the band that would eventually become Engerica, we decided just to be ourselves. I’ve never felt a debt to any band that I’ve listened to. It’s just a reference point and that’s what it will always stay as. Our music doesn’t fit into any particular scene, which is a blessing… And a curse."

The Answer, the young Northern Irish retro rockers who won ‘Best New Band’ at Classic Rock’s debut Award Ceremony in 2005, release their debut album, ‘Rise’, on the Albert Productions label, on June 26th, preceded by a single, ‘Into The Gutter’, on May 29th. The Answer, who have already supported the Darkness, Alter Bridge, Deep Purple and Therapy, headline Kerrang!’s ‘Most Wanted Tour’ in May before playing as special guest on Whitesnake’s May / June UK tour.

Losing Sun, a young metal quartet influenced by the likes of Incubus, Sepultura, Alice In Chains and Mudvayne, released their debut album ‘Inertia’ on Casket Records in April 2005. Losing Sun’s cosmopolitan line-up includes a Mediterranean guitarist, and Egyptian born bassist and an ex-cage-fighter drummer. Losing Sun are currently working on their upcoming second album ‘Perspective’ with producer Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Chimaira). Losing Sun, who were only formed in 2004, have already supported the likes of Lost Prophets, Killing Joke, Skindred and Il Nino.

Rattlesnake Remedy, who release their debut single ‘Drag You Down’ on BEM Records on May 1st, count such rock n' roll legends as The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Guns n' Roses, Pantera and Black Sabbath as influences. They have already supported the likes of Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Tokyo Dragons, The Quireboys, Magnum, LA Guns and many more.

The Sweet Black Angels debut album, ‘Beneath Shadows’ was released in January 2005 on Matchbox recordings. One reviewer described them as ‘an organic timeless rock band with big vocals ala The Stereophonics, Cast and The Levellers…very rock n ' roll with a stadium size mood…A cooler Oasis on holiday with a rockier Seahorses kind of vibe’.

Brilliant AC / DC tribute band Hells Bells headline the main stage on Thursday night, providing the perfect soundtrack to the beginning of what promises to be a very wicked weekend.

History of the Bulldog Bash -

The Bulldog Bash is a unique event on the UK festival calendar, set up and run by bikers for bikers, and lovers of all things hard and metallic - from exotic custom bikes and cars, to jet force drag cars. The Bulldog Bash, which features one of the UK’s biggest and best undercover custom bike exhibitions (with big prizes for a host of categories) also boasts an exotic US Custom Car exhibition.

The Shakespeare County Raceway Drag Strip boasts one of the best racing surfaces in Europe, and the Bulldog Bash always attracts an amazing variety of custom cars and bikes, jet cars, jet karts, jet lorries, and stunt riders. Regular shows with the pro and demo racers and other special attractions - some hurtling at world record breaking speeds, including the awesome Fireforce 1 and 2 jet cars - alternate with ‘Run What You Brung’, where amateurs jump at the chance to blast their own machines down the dragway at full force…whatever the consequences.

There is always a huge market comprising stalls of every description, plus, of course, biker accessories & clothing. The Bulldog also boasts a huge fairground with ejector seat bungee jumping and various ‘white-knuckle’ rides, tattoo and piercing stalls, a mini moto arena, the ‘Wall of Death’, and the ‘Topless Bike Wash’! Growing in popularity every year, the UWA wrestling bouts have become a regular attraction and firm favourite. After the main bouts, they culminate with an all comers over-the-top-rope royal rumble for the vacant Bulldog Belt. Wet t-shirt and beer gut competitions with decent cash prizes are another popular attraction.

The Bulldog Bash has evolved from a tiny gathering 20 years ago to become Europe's biggest and best biker / rock festival - because the organisers thought of the event they would like to attend and made it happen. The incredible, laid back, rock and biker community atmosphere has developed of its own accord. A unique event on the UK festival calendar, The Bulldog Bash has an enviable reputation as the safest rock festival in the land, as has frequently been publicly acknowledged by the local police force.
