Celebrating the life and legacy of Scotland's famous poet Robert Burns, Burns Night takes place every year on January 25th - the poet's birthday .
Although the event is mainly celebrated in Scotland and Northern Ireland, recent years have seen Burns Night celebrations become more popular across the rest of the UK - wherever there's an appreciation of Burns' literature, Scottish culture or, indeed, whisky.
Typically, a Burns Night celebration include a Haggis, Scotch Whisky and the recitation of Burns' poetry. The Haggis is undoubtedly the star of the show, its ceremonious arrival at the table being announced by a piper playing the bagpipes, and the recital of the traditional 'Address to a Haggis' by the event's host. Sound bonkers? In fact it's great fun, and an integral part of Scottish culture.
