Music enthusiasts from around the UK have reacted angrily to plans to potentially close two of Liverpool's most revered music spaces.

News filtered in this week that Wolstenholme Square, the site of two of Liverpool's most iconic and thriving clubs Nation and the Kazimier, would be redeveloped in the future for accommodation.

Although the plans clearly state that the clubs aren't under threat in the near future, it does go on to continue a widespread theme in the city of property redevelopment suffocating musical culture - the closure of the nearby Mello Mello bar endemic of that.

Cream, the superclub that started at Nation and still resides there on a number of events each year, released a statement on the matter on their Facebook page, whilst many of Liverpool's promoters condemned the move in an article on the matter from our friends at Getintothis, with a huge amount of Facebook groups and online petitions started by angry clubbers.

Here at Skiddle the two venues have been big parts of many of our musical upbringings, with plenty of time spent on the Cream dancefloor since the late nineties and in recent years a number of fantastic gigs at the Kazimier, seeing Peanut Butter Wold deliver an emotional tour de force VJ set there in April an example.

We'd hate to see both closed, with the above video from Blu ECigs a recent reminder of the changing landscape of the club world in London being hugely affected by similar ventures. The power of the people still holds true though, with Ministry of Sound saved by the valiant efforts of music enthusiasts. You can sign the petition here.
