Club and creative space Canal Mills is one of the best music venues in the North. Set in a modernised textile mill, it's an immersive space that works just as well as theatre, cinema and art gallery as it does a party venue. It's for the latter reason that we're getting all excited about the venue again, as two enormous line ups prepare to grace the historic edifice on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
NYE with MK and Shadow Child
Canal Mills call on the incendiary sounds of house music veteran MK to lead the charge into 2017. His immense back catalogue of hits spanning three decades have placed him amongst the true greats of the club scene, as essential now as he was when he broke out in the early ninties. He'll be supported by the sleazy grooves of Shadow Child and rave and hardcore inspired house of recent Wiley collaborators GotSome.
NYD with Modeselektor and The Black Madonna
The quality continues on New Year's Day when the freeweheling sounds of Monkeytown duo Modeselektor hit the Leeds establishment. Their energetic mesh of bass, house and techno will be complemented by the eclectic, floor focused beats of Chi-Town hero The Black Madonna and the cerebral delights of Floating Points as well as Jasper James, Motor City Drum Ensemble, People Get Real and Grainger.
