This month sees a unique new venue open its doors in Leeds, and they've already planned a series of exciting events to mark their arrival.

Canal Mills is a multi purpose arts space housed in a former textile mill, that will showcase a range of artistic pursuits from exhibitions, theatrical projects and film screenings, to live gigs and electronic dance events.
It opens on September 28th with a launch weekend hosted by Wax:on and Metropolis, followed by an exciting programme of autumn events including a 2020Vision showcase, Mr Scruff Keep It Unreal, and more Wax: On and Metropolis parties. All events are now on sale with Skiddle.
28th September
Simian Mobile Disco, Julio Bashmore, Tensnake, The 2 Bears, People Get Real
Wax:On returns to Leeds after a summer of festivals, to curate the first of many Wax:On events at Canal Mills. This opening party will see a mega line-up of Simian Mobile Disco, Julio Bashmore, Tensnake, The 2 Bears, People Get Real and more take to the decks in the new red brick space.
29th September
Skream & Sgt Pokes, Breakage & LX One, Bobby Tank, Hijak
The opening weekend continues on Saturday 29th September, when Metropolis brings Skream's Skreamizm tour to their new home of Canal Mills. The Skreamizm nights will take a back- to-basics approach: a dark room, a massive soundsystem, an extended 3 hour set, and a focus firmly on the music. Rather than staying in one place, Skream explains, they'll find him taking the crowd on a tour through the music he loves.
6th October
Pearson Sound, Jackmaster, Boddika, Dusky, Last Magpie, People Get Real
For Wax:On's second event at Canal Mills, they've compiled another hefty line-up featuring label owners (three in fact), a Leeds debut performances and a whole host more. Pearson Sound, Jackmaster, Boddika, Dusky, Last Magpie and People Get Real will be the tune providers for this Autumnal treat of house, techno and electronica.
20th October
Maya Jane Coles, Ralph Lawson, Simon Baker, Crazy P, People Get Real, Danny Raper
Late October will see Leeds' own 2020Vision imprint take over the new Canal Mills venue to showcase the sounds of some of their most exciting established and up and coming artists. Leading the charge is Maya Jane-Coles, who's risen rapidly through the ranks in the past 12 month's to become one of the most in demand artists in the UK. Joining her is 2020 stalwart and legendary Back to Basics resident Ralph Lawson, newcomer Simon Baker and Manchester's underground disco sensation Crazy P. Completing the 2020 showcase are People Get Real and Danny Raper.
27th October
Mr Scruff returns to Leeds on October 27th for only the second time this year, bringing his infamous blend of tea and beats to Canal Mills. The perfect setting for his innovative take on clubbing, Canal Mills' distinctive surroundings will make a memorable and unique backdrop for the Manchester DJ, producer and artist's eclectic selection of jazz, soul, hip hop, funk, disco, deep house, reggae, dubstep, afrobeat, latin, and electrofunk.
2nd November
Benga, David Rodigan MBE, Shogun Audio
For Metropolis' second event at their new Canal Mills home, they've drawn together three bass heavyweights for a genre spanning evening connecting the dots between dubstep, drum and bass and reggae. Radio 1 host and one third of Magnetic Man, Benga returns to Leeds with MC Youngman, joined on this impressive line-up by David Rodigan MBE and Shogun Audio head honcho, Friction.
