Cassy mixes Fabric 71 – Out Now

Having been running for over a decade, the Fabric and FabricLIVE mix CDs have been monthly insights into the electronic music landscape of our times. Dip into some of the classic compilations delivered over the years by Swayzak, Tiefschwarz, John Peel, Jacques lu Cont and many more and you’re listening to mix CD history, many standing well above offerings from their peers.

The latest sees the well travelled Cassy at the helm, a DJ whose pan global appeal sees her holding four residencies across the planet’s more revered nighteries - Panoramabar in Berlin, Trouw in Amsterdam, Rex Club in Paris, and now Output in NYC.

Offering up a selection of upfront house, techno and electronica from the likes of Italo Johnson, John Talabot, LoSoul and Alex Cortex, you can catch a sneak preview of the mix above, and Cassy herself explains the creative reasoning behind the album:

“The tracks on the mix all represent what I love about electronic music, and what I love playing. Simply, each track is individually beautiful – there is not much more to add. All of the producers are special in their own way. The project has come at a perfect time for me in terms of me being able to communicate where I am at artistically. I have aimed to get back to the roots of what this should be about for every DJ – namely playing records for the love of playing records – and not because of anything else.”

One of Cassy’s next performances sees her joining Seth Troxler, Catz N Dogz and Scuba as guests at the Yousef presents Circus Birthday at the end of next month. Undoubtedly one of the biggest clubbing events on the UK circuit, the Birthdays have been cornerstones of the advent of the jam packed clubbing Autumn, and it represents the perfect opportunity to envelop yourself in Cassy’s tempestuous techno and groove driven sound.
