Liverpool is one of the best cities in the country to visit and has a whole host of cultural offerings and unique days out to choose from.

But, whilst some of the best things in the city can often set you back a pretty penny and a lot of the free things to do often revolve around museums and walking around (which can be amazing, but sometimes you're after a bit more); we want to let you in on some of our favourite things to do at the lower price points!

So whether you want to laugh the night away with some of the city's finest comedians, get amazing views of the city from wither the water or a radio tower, or maybe even delve into the diverse history of British Music, there's an array of incredible cheap things to do in Liverpool, so have a scroll and start planning your next trip!

 

Go to a cheap gig, rave or club night

Where: pretty much everywhere!

As such a big city, and one with a stunning musical history, there are plenty of spots to find music events. We aren’t talking huge stadium shows, of course, but you can find plenty of bars, pubs, and clubs with live musicians, DJs, and fun club nights in just about every corner of Liverpool. Why not try one out? You might discover your new favourite artist or make some mates!

Laugh the night away at Hot Water Comedy Club

Price: Changes every night, mid-week gigs are usually free, weekend tickets range from £10-£20

Where: 45 Hardman St in Liverpool L1 9AS

Who doesn't love a good laugh eh? Well, if there's a city at the forefront of the UK Comedy Scene at the minute it's Liverpool, and the club at the epicentre of that has to be Hot Water. Bringing through Facebook icon Paul Smith, and Have A Word Podcast legend, Adam Rowe, amongst many other of the country's best new comedians Hot Water is pretty much the best place to see comedy outside of London (and it may even be better than that.) With free mid-week nights and some ticketed vents on the weekend, it's a great cheap night out. Just make sure you're ready for the front row, there's a 100% chance you'll get the piss taken out of you.

 


 

Peruse the vintage wares at 69A

Price: Free entry, but it will be hard to leave without buying anything

Where: 75 Renshaw St in Liverpool L1 2SJ

Calling all you Depop fans, if you're looking for the next place to absorb the vintage lifestyle and pursue to your heart's content then 69A is one of the best cheap days out in Liverpool for you. This treasure trove of vintage clothes and antiques has been trading since the 1970s and sells items from all over the globe. There are few places in Liverpool with the same charm and quaint atmosphere; it's the perfect place to spend an afternoon wandering around and potentially pick up a few treats.

For those of you more inclined to chill out and have a boozing session when you're visiting another city, then, when looking for cheap things to do in Liverpool, then there are few better things to do than relax on one of its rooftop, or beer gardens. Whether you're after stunning skyline views of the city, a quaint seaside pint, or a sprawling outdoor drinking complex that you won't want to leave, Liverpool has you covered. It's the perfect place to relax for an afternoon and then realise quite just how much you've had to drink when you eventually stand up and it all rushes to your head.

Venture into British music heritage at the British Music Experience

Price: Adult £16, Child £10, Concessions £12.50

Where: British Music Experience, Cunard Building in Liverpool L3 1DS

This is one for any music fans amongst you, The British Music Experience tells the story of British Music through costumes, instruments, performances and memorabilia. With outfits from Freddie Mercury and Dusty Springfield, to the Spice Girls, to musical instruments played by some of the world’s most renowned artists from Noel Gallagher to the Sex Pistols. It's a true musical marvel and you can even get interactive by learning to play an instrument at the Gibson Interactive Studio to putting on your dancing shoes at Dance the Decades with a dance instructor guiding you through to making your own dance video. It's bloody brilliant and you won't regret getting them tickets. 

 


 

Go wild bouncing around Velocity

Price: Two hours for £12 

Where: Unit 1, Easter Park, Bennett's Ln, Shell Grn in Liverpool, Widnes WA8 0GW

There are few places that the whole family can enjoy more than Velocity in Widnes! the UK's biggest indoor inflatable arena of fun that features two extreme drop slides, a giant slide into the UK’s largest ball pool, a gladiator arena with podiums to battle from, a high climbing wall and so much more. With a dedicated arena for under 4s that includes its own slide and ball pool, there's room for everyone no matter their age. Plus it isn't far outside the city and can function as a good escape to knacker out the kids so they finally can have an early night, a great day out and good for all the family. 

 


 

Get water top views of the city with Mersey Ferries

Price: Adults £11, Child £7.50, Concessions £10

Where: Pier Head, George Parade in Liverpool L3 1DP

The Pool of Life is an incredibly scenic city, and when looking for cheap days out in Liverpool, you may want to take advantage of this, and there are few places better to do so than on Mersey Ferries. The company will take you out on their eccentrically decorated boat and float you down the Mersey so you can take in the stunning waterfront views of all of the sights. If you're a nautical mind you will absolutely love this, plus it's a great thing to do with the kids, and just for everyone really. One of the coolest things to do in the city, and one you cannot afford to miss.

 


 

Get crazy at Ghetto Golf

Price: £12.50

Where: Ghetto Golf, Cains Brewery, Stanhope Street, L8 5XJ

Who doesn't love a bit of mini golf? But, with the oversaturation of the market in recent times, many of them feel very similar, well, that's where Ghetto Golf comes in. A neon-soaked mini golf paradise housed in The Old Cains Brewery, with multiple themed holes, each as uniquely designed as the other, it's a proper good laugh to be had with anyone and everyone. Plus, there's a pretty good USP with Ghetto Golf, it's for over 18s only and you can drink to your heart's content as you go around! (now if that's not a good sell we don't know what is.)

  


 

See the views from St Johns Beacon

Price: Adult £7, Child £5, Concessions £6

Where: 1 Houghton St in Liverpool L1 1RL

The water isn't the only way that you can take in the sights of the city when looking for cheap things to do in Liverpool. Scaling up St Johns Beacon, the home of Radio City station and the tallest point in the city, you can go up for a small fee and take in the sights. With seafront views that stretch to North Wales and Lancashire and as far as Snowdonia and Blackpool on clearer days, it's a fantastically unique thing to do in the city and can't be missed if looking for something a bit different to do.
