This Saturday brings long time Chibuku favourite Erol Alkan back to The Masque, alongside turntable jedi DJ Yoda and Warp bass lynchpin Hudson Mohawke.
Chibuku hero Erol Alkan takes the helm in The Theatre. Whether he's playing gutter electro, ass-wiggling house music, melody driven indie and speaker shattering techno, Erol delivers the goods every time he plays at The Masque.
His musical ability continues to be limitless; whether gifting indie bands that timeless dance floor appeal (check the stunning rework of synth-pop darlings Metronomy) or blitzing out the beats at festivals across the globe. His Theatre workouts are the stuff of legend and Chibuku welcomes back with open arms a man who never fails to deliver. James Rand supports.
Up in the Loft, where another starlet of Chibuku’s history returns after a long absence, turntable Jedi DJ Yoda. Few have invigorated the idea of a DJ as showman quite like Yoda over the past few years, his sets compromising as much humour and fun as they do skills and ability. His stunning AV show is the focus here; where the talent that has seen him remix film soundtracks live will jostle alongside the playfulness inherent in everything he does. Yoda will be cutting up visuals with the same speed and talent that he does music.
Joining him will be Warp bass lynchpin Hudson Mohawke. The erstwhile Scot remains one of the most exciting figures in contemporary dance music, his acumen in delivering aural tapestries that plunder electronica, dubstep, UK bass and much more marking him out from his peers. L-Vis 1990, accompanied by vocal stalwart Mc Shadz, also contributes a set with the focus surely to be on the Mad Decent firebrand and Night Slugs boss constantly morphing musical palette.
Local chanteuse Jess Gascoigne makes her Chibuku debut in support.
