Club review: Calvin Harris @ Cream Mallorca, BCM, 20/06/12

BCM Mallorca is the most famous club on the largest of the Balearic islands, attracting bigger crowds - and bigger names - every year. We went along for the first night of Calvin Harris' 2012 Cream Mallorca residency.
 
Burns kicked off proceedings with some warming, hands in the air electro, crossing over into a more mainstream feel which provided a steady platform for the main man himself to take over from later in the evening. Burns knows his stuff and how to warm up an audience, and will continue to be Calvin's warm up artist throughout the whole of the season.
 
Over the past five years, Calvin Harris has risen to fame with his punchy releases, married with his energetic and ever so creative DJ sets. Calvin settled in quickly to his brand new home for the summer, flying the Cream flag high. Classics like 'Flame' and his collaboration with Example 'We'll Be Coming Back' were highlights amongst his set, and he kept BCM's dancefloor packed all night with his bass heavy, electronic vibes.
 
Thankfully for the sweaty crowd, BCM's ice canons were employed to full effect, as was the full Cream production and mind-blowing light show.
 
All in all a great first night at BCM for Cream Mallorca. It's definitely safe to say that the night set the bar in what is to be another amazing summer season for Cream and BCM in general - hats off to all involved.
