With halloween with almost upon us, ravers everywhere are preparing to assume their grizzly outfits and gruesome get up for this unique time of year. Nowhere looks like throwing a more impressive Halloween bash than Edinburgh’s leading party starters, Musika, on Saturday 2nd November.
Having secured a yet undisclosed warehouse venue on the outskirts of the city, Musika will be hosting iconic record label Cocoon to provide the soundtrack as part of the Frankfurt institution’s world tour, helmed by their man man and one of the dons of techno - Sven Vath.
Papa Sven, as he has been affectionately dubbed by his hordes of fans, has been none of the scene’s biggest names for over 30 years now. Spawning one of the most important brands in techno - his Cocoon project has seen immense success worldwide, setting up shop in Ibiza and his hometown of Frankfurt. This years Cocoon in the Park saw Sven headline the Temple Newsam festival alongside other luminaries like Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin, becoming one of the festivals of the year, certainly a highlight of the underground techno calendar.
His passion for his art has never waned and his live performances remain as potent as ever, as he moves between all differing slants of techno, whipping the crowd into an ecstatic mindset at will. It’s almost supernatural when this man is behind the decks, and at Musika’s halloween bash we’ll be treated to four whole hours of his mystifying talent.
He will be joined by Cocoon favourite Onur Ozer. The Turkish born producer has for a number of years been a mainstay of the thriving Berlin techno scene, with regular releases on Vakant and Cocoon hitting all the right notes in the techno world. Alejandro Mosso will appear alongside him, rounding off what promises to be an unparalleled halloween techno feast.
