Putting an end to any ill founded rumours that it's grim up North, a brand new night is all set to splash a bit of colour all over  some of Manchester and Leeds' coolest venues with a fine mixture of big names and rude underground talent from the worlds of house, techno, drum and bass, disco, electro and live music.

Coloursound is big, bold, and it's already teamed up with big wigs like Cadenza and We Love. It'll be launching with all guns blazing in September, bringing a range of warehouse raves, cosy basement parties and everything in between to Leeds and Manchester; with a minimum of four or five top names at each party.

DJs appearing across season 1 of Coloursound will include the likes of Trentemoller, DJ Fresh, Kenny Dope, Kevin Saunderson, Lee Foss, Heidi, Mayaan Nidaam, Maceo Plex, Stacy Pullen, Round Table Knights, A Guy Called Gerald, Tom Trago, Levon Vincent, Tiefschwarz, Reboot and many more. See all Coloursound Season 1 line-ups.

The clever concept of the night is to host a number of parties in venues like The Warehouse, Soundcontrol, Wire, Nation of Shopkeepers, Joshua Brooks as well as bespoke places like tunnels, warehouses and other spaces around the north of England, with event capacities ranging from cosy at 200 to vast at 4000. The season will end with a huge 4,000 capacity four room event at Stylus in Leeds in December.

The idea surfaced a year ago, with the last few months seeing the final touches being put to plans for the end of 2011. A programme of 7-10 events is in place between Oct and Dec of this year, with a second season for January to April 2012 (already all but signed and sealed) before expanding to 15 events in season 3.
