Beginning in 2002, BBC 6 Music's Funk and Soul Show hosted by Craig Charles has been a roaring success story, three hours of nothing but funk, soul and disco classics on Saturday night's airwaves managed to win over the nation. Those sets come alive in his live appearances, as he takes to the decks and spins the best tracks of the genres creating a dance worthy soundtrack.
His DJ sets are renowned around the country, having been invited to cities all over the UK and checked off numerous festival stages such as Parklife, Lovebox and Funk and Soul Festival. He now brings it to Birmingham's Hare and Hounds this May bank holiday for a full day of groovy beats.
Charles will be joined by fellow DJs Sam Redmore and Tom Wilson warming you up and spinning some danceable tracks before his headline slot. While live support comes in the form of Birmingham's own funk and pop fusion collective Heavy Beat Brass Band as well as the trio who hold homage to the classic organ use in classic jazz music, Three Step Manoeuvre.
