A unique blend of soul, house, disco and electronic music, well-renowned band Crazy P Soundsystem touched down on the South Coast last night at The Arch; as part of Brighton’s Music Conference. The band came through to offload a memorable performance in one of the seafronts’ favourite venues. Known for their dynamic and infectious sound, Crazy P Soundsystem delivered an unforgettable night of grooves that kept the crowd dancing from start to finish.
One of the most influential and refined sounds to come out of the UK, Crazy P (Soundsystem) have been heavyweights in the game with releases dating back to 1999. With The Arch, as always, providing an ecstatic atmosphere, when they finally took to the stage, Crazy P were met with enthusiastic cheers from a packed house of eager fans throughout.
Taking to the stage, frontwoman Danielle Moore provided charismatic lead vocals whilst Chris Todd provided the basslines and groovy synths from his Pioneer deck set-up. A flawless musical backdrop, Crazy P’s soundscape consists of live instrumentation with electronic beats, with punchy bass lines that drive the dancefloor and keep the energy sky-high, with their live show feeling like a leaf out of history with their genre-pioneering testimonies over the years.
Danielle’s soulful voice and engaging stage presence captivated the audience, still effortlessly boasting her coolness as she merged her singing with light dancing and seamless swagger that perfectly matched the band’s unique sound. A party atmosphere filled with all the freedom and energy associated with disco music, the crowd showed up in their numbers to let go and have a dance, exactly the thing that has resonated with Crazy P fans over the years.
Brighton has been rocking over the past two weekends with the live music event industry every month getting back to its best - this event certainly kept that going. With the evening closed off in fashion with a resident DJ, the evening didn’t stop at Crazy P with those who attended the conference and event alone still able to two step way into the night. Again, The Arch became the positive and creatively free environment that everyone seeks, and Crazy P Soundsystem thrived in this atmosphere and setting, offering a class dance for everyone.
