Iconic Acid House pioneer DJ Pierre is coming to Manchester along with a bastion of fellow house DJ's on Saturday 12th July, over two rooms at Manchester's brand new venue 44PS.
The one off event plays homage to an impressive void air motion sound system and is a non profit event with the intention of raising money for the charity Tiny Steps.
DJ Pierre (see his boiler room mix above) hails from Chicago, and was part of the early heavily influential producers in house music as it developed in the mid to late eighties.
He was a member of Phuture whose 1987 EP 'Acid Tracks' is labelled as the first record of the sub-genre, Acid House. He formed Phuture with two other artists, Spanky and Herb J who invented the notorious 'squelch' noise which has remained a consistent presence in the music ever since.
Pierre continued to produce records under the label acid tracks including "Your only friend" which interestingly carries an anti-drug message (listen above for a taste of Pierre's pioneering acid house). He carries other recording names including Phuture Phantasy Club, pierre's Pfantasy Club and Photon Inc.
The legendary acid house Dj is joined by old skool Tony Ross, Adam Wilson and Vince Vega amongst others.
