Following the decision to close London nightclub fabric indefinitely until Islington Council reviews its license, DJs have taken to social media to ask the city's mayor Sadiq Kahn to stand firm on his pledge to save nightlife in the capital.
Plastician, Daniel Avery and Artwork have all directed tweets at Khan following an investigation from the metropolitan police into two drug related deaths this weekend that led to an interim suspension of the club's license.
A full hearing will take place later this month to decide its eventual fate and members of the electronic music scene have reminded Kahn that his involvement is not only vital, but also something he promised when he struck a chord with ravers when he was elected, saying:
“I don’t want young and creative Londoners abandoning our city to head to Amsterdam, to Berlin, to Prague where clubs are supported and allowed to flourish.”
