De la Soul headline Camp Bestival Line up

Long Island trio De La Soul will be heading to Dorset in July to top the bill at Camp Bestival. The Hip-hop group, consisting of Trugoy the Dove, Posudunous and Maseo, set the genre alight in 1989 with the release of their critically luaded 3 Feet High and Rising, ushering in the daisy age of the genre with a slew of killer singles which included the Funkadelic sampling 'Me Myself and I' (watch the video below).

They have since released a slew of critically acclaimed album, working with the likes of Slum Village, Chaka Khan, Mos Def and The Isley Brothers, undeniably becoming a firm part of hip hop royalty. Recently they gave away free downloads of all their albums as a Valentines day gift, sending cyberspace into meltdown in the process.

The group will be headlining Saturday at the festival, making sure the family friendly gathering is transformed into a Roller Skating Jam much like the famous track which appeared off second album De la Soul is Dead (watch below). Camp Bestival takes place in Lulworth Castle near Bournemouth from Thursday 31st July to Sunday 3rd august. Head here for more information on the festival.
