Isn't it nice to get excited about festival announcements again? With the 2022 festival season looking incredibly optimistic, we're seeing lineup announcements with more frequency now as we look to next summer. Glastonbury have announced a new name that will be coming to Worthy Farm next June in Diana Ross.
She'll be taking up the coveted 'Legend Slot' that takes place on the Sunday of the festival each year. Of course there's no real need to introduce her, Diana Ross is a Motown legend who was part of The Supremes who had massive hits such as Come See About Me and You Can't Hurry Love. It was even more impressive that she managed to leave such an iconic group and pave a way forward as one of the most revered solo names in soul music's history. She later dived deeper into a pop-leaning sound whilst retaining her incredible soul-fuelled vocals.
Who can forget her iconic singles such as Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Baby Love, Where Did Our Love Go, there are so many to choose from. It is rare for an artist to maintain such a constant level of quality across an entire level but Diana Ross is one of the rare few who can make that claim. She even branched into an acting career, proving her credentials as a wide-reaching entertainment talent.
She joins Billie Eilish on the Glastonbury bill for next year. With these two names already confirmed, the best festival in the world is finally back in full swing. We've missed it so much and everyone who has managed to grab a ticket is incredibly lucky.
