On Friday 25th November 2024, Manchester’s Depot Mayfield transformed into a steamy dance haven as Disclosure took the stage, bringing their fusion of house, garage, and electronica to a packed, buzzing crowd. Known for turning any venue into a late-night dance bliss, the British duo elevated the Depot’s industrial space, creating an electric vibe from the moment they arrived.
Disclosure’s set was a powerhouse from start to finish. Known for hits like ‘Latch’ and ‘White Noise’, they pulled from classics and new releases, each track crafted to keep the energy soaring. As their basslines built up and the drops landed, it was easy to see why this duo has held a top spot in the electronic scene for over a decade. Their mixing was unbelievably seamless - each track melted into the next, and just when you thought you could catch your breath, another beat would drive the crowd crazy.
The visuals saw trippy graphics and pulsing lights perfectly synced with each beat. Their focus on vocals layered over deep house beats struck a great balance, engaging everyone from dedicated Disclosure fans to new listeners. The highlight for many was hearing ‘Tondo’, which sent a wave of energy through the Depot. As always, Disclosure’s performance wasn’t just a setlist: it was a journey into their unique soundscape, expertly balancing euphoric highs and pounding lows.
As Disclosure wound down, the energy shifted when Floating Points took the stage. Known for his experimental approach, he brought a refreshing change in pace and style. For those familiar with his intricate sound design and atmospheric layering, his set was a mesmerising experience that played perfectly against the venue’s gritty backdrop. Floating Points’ mix of jazz-inspired beats, ambient elements, and complex rhythms created an almost hypnotic vibe, captivating the audience in a way that’s hard to put into words.
He brought in sounds that felt like they were bouncing off the walls, echoing through the Depot’s industrial architecture in a hauntingly hypnotising way. Tracks with slow builds and unexpected crescendos challenged the crowd to stay tuned in, rewarding those willing to dive into his more nuanced style. For fans who appreciate the unconventional, he offered something unique, taking everyone down a rabbit hole of sound that shifted between upbeat and introspective. His skill as both a DJ and musician had the crowd invested in every moment of his set.
Another highlight of the night was Ghoulish, who opened with dark, driving beats that instantly grabbed the crowd’s attention. Known for his underground style and powerful basslines, he filled the Depot with an edgy, pulsating sound that was both haunting and irresistible. His set was brimming with hard-hitting rhythms, playing off the venue’s industrial feel perfectly, turning it into something that felt part-rave, part-spooky spectacle (fitting with the time of the year!).
The gritty sound complemented the moody lighting and raw architecture, creating an atmosphere that was equally thrilling and ominous. Ghoulish’s performance stood out as a statement piece, bringing a bold flavour to the night that was hard to shake off. By the end of his set, the crowd was buzzing, primed, and ready for the rest of the night. His ability to pull listeners in and keep them moving is a testament to his command of the decks, and it was clear he left a lasting impression on both his dedicated fans and newcomers alike.
Together, Disclosure, Floating Points, Ghoulish (and many more) crafted a well-rounded night that catered to a wide range of electronic music tastes. Disclosure’s crowd-pleasing set brought energy and excitement, Floating Points offered an experimental depth, and Ghoulish provided edgy, underground vibes.
