Hip Hop history is en route to the North West; EPMD perform live in Manchester this April.

In the pantheon of great hip hop groups, EPMD are in the elite. The duo, an acronym of Erick (Sermon) and Parrish (Smith) Making Dollars, have been integral components of the culture since the mid eighties, with a slew of classic albums all punctuated by the business title (you can listen to their sophomore effort Unfinished Business via Spotify below).
The duo's chemistry on wax was a signature of the golden age of hip hop in the late eighties and early nineties, with Sermon's fun laden productions have been at the centre of their music, as well as the group that he created in the aftermath of EPMD The Def Squad.
Their individual tracks represent some of the most defining moments in the music, from the paean to making it in the music business 'Please listen to my Demo' to one of the greatest posse cuts the genre has ever seen, 'The Headbanger' featuring K-Solo and Redman (watch below).
Sermon is widely held as one of the greatest producers in hip hop history, having worked with 50 Cent, Eminem, Marvin Gaye (posthumously but to devastating effect on 'Music'), Jay-Z and LL Cool J, but it was with Parrish where he really left his mark.
That heritage is heading to Manchester on Saturday when More Bounce bring them to Gorilla. They'll be joined by long time collaborator, former DMC Champion and Busta Rhymes producer DJ Scratch. Ticket info here.
