Liverpool's Baltic district gets a lot of love on these pages. It's rightly been held as aiding the re invigoration of the creative segment of the city, with a glittering ensemble of venues that include the intimate Kitchen Street pop up, the club arenas Haus and the Garage and the multi purpose space Camp & Furnace.
The latter has some fantastic options for you over the Easter period, including two ticketed events and their marquee friday party Foodslam. Stuck for something to do in the scouse heartland this weekend? Look no further, as we break down the options for you
Foodslam dominates Liverpool every Friday in the city. Kicking off at 6pm and lasting seven hours, each event features a rotating cast of culinary choices centred around the music of resident DJ and Skiddle scribe The Mighty Mojo, who stitches together the music each week either by himself or inviting an arsenal of the city's best selectors.
Each event is free, and the crowd ranges form the Baltic District's mass of workers popping ion for an end of shift bev to a litany of people kick-starting their weekend and night out - the constantly changing grub options makes for a brilliantly informal way to start your party.
On Good Friday a smorgasbord of live music is added to the fun, with We the Undersigned, The Soul Rays, Batala and The Peep Show joining The Mighty Mojo over the course of the evening, twelve piece WTU's wild careering funk best emphasised by their cover of 'Tear the Roof of the sucker' above.
Saturday sees the venue get its rave head on, with Max Cooper heading to the venue. Feted by uber website xlr8r, Cooper's moody and atmospheric house and techno has been synonymous with the more discerning dancefloor inhabitants, as evidenced by his killer mix for John Digweed's (who also heads to the Baltic Triangle shortly) Transitions radio show below.
He'll be bringing that canny knack for a groove to the venue on the Saturday, with support coming in the shape of Liverpool local hero Mr Paul. Head here for tickets.
The same night also sees the recently launched Meat Market - which boasts the following tagline "Dressy / sexy - it's all about the beats / breaks / cocktails / steaks." Book in advance if you want a table for this which sits as a meat loaded cocktail heavy equivalent of foodslam, slightly slanted on the more formal tip from 7.30pm-2am.
One day later and it's the turn of another DJ to take the helm, this time for the entire evening. Acid house legend Graeme Park will man the decks for six full hours, careering through his hugely expansive record collection to circumnavigate the last three decades of music.
Expect anthems, undiscovered gems and misty eyed memories to soundtrack the evening as he careers through funk and soul, house and techno, electro and disco and so much more as he selects music form the 80s, 90s and this century (meaning it's realy three and a bit decades). Ticket details here.
The Camp's Sunday roasts are also the stuff of legend and perfect to start big over the weekend - again book in advance if you fancy guaranteeing your nosh (especially for big parties).
