The mighty Electric Daisy Carnival rolls into Milton Keynes on July 12th, aiming to outdo last year's enormous inauguration by once again showcasing some of the world's biggest electronic superstars. We've looked ahead and picked five of the most essential acts hitting up the festival this year.
First up, this may be a obvious choice, but after a wealth of enormous shows in the UK recently, Aoki has once again embedded himself into the hearts of the British EDM posse. His sets are typically crammed with high octane, floorfilling bangers (hear that above), with more drops and drum rolls than you can shake a stick at. There aren't many other DJs with the same party starting energy as Aoki, which makes him a definite highlight at EDC UK.
Appearing alongside the likes of Dubfire and Marco Carola in the Cosmic Meadow is one of the hottest techno and house forces at the minute - Napoli born Davide Squillace. His deft blend of percussive fills, lean beats and dance floor know how (check that out in his set above) have made the Italian one of house and techno's most respected players. A definite must-see for those that like things a little deeper.
The legendary deep house innovator and his soulful, jazz fueled vibes will be another unmissable experience for those that like their dance music filled with groove and depth. Kerri Chandler's countless years in the business have seen him establish a unique voice in the world of house music that continues to draw in new audiences. Expect an absolute masterclass form the MadTech Records boss, much like his Boiler Room appearance above.
Having been one of the scene's major players since the release of his 2006 classic 'Acceptable In The 80s', Calvin Harris' ability to command an audience (see above) on the world's biggest stages has never been more impressive than it is right now, with his productions and sets increasingly primed for festivals of EDC's magnitude.
Whether he's remixing Green Velvet's 'Bigger Than Prince' into a brooding deep house banger or getting countless Ibiza crowds whipped into a frenzy thansk to his arsenal of bassy, soulful bangers, Hot Since 82 is fast becoming one of the hottest modern house properties, and with good reason. For lovers of the new wave of undergournd house music, Hot Since 82 is pretty much as good as you can get. Essential.
