Priding itself on being boutique, independent and homegrown, Electric Fields will offer both style and substance when it comes to Drumlanrig Castle between Saturday 1st - Sunday 2nd September.
The unique situation is truly stunning, with mountainous views surrounding the 17th century building, whose grounds are offered up for one weekend a year for the festival. Real ale, a fairground, and a kids area are just some of the attractions that accompany a truly eclectic Electric Fields line up that invites some of the biggest names in music to Scotland.
Alongside some pretty niche bands such as Real Estate and Foxygen, sit massive name DJs such as Jackmaster and Denis Sulta, while a headline pairing of Dizzee Rascal and Frightened Rabbit ensures the end of both evenings is in safe hands (see the full Electric Fields line up). Here's our top five acts set to light up Drumlanrig Castle.
5. Temples

The Kettering four piece made a serious impression when they released psych pop gem Shelter Song back in 2012 and just over a year later their full-length debut, Sun Structures landed. Channeling 60s sensibilities within their stinging guitar lines and choral vocals, the group coupled the release with immersive live shows that featured trippy visuals to make for truly psychedelic surroundings.
Latest release Volcano has seen the band infuse more synth tones into their sound, providing a perfect platform for James Bagshaw's voice, and this adds a further dynamic to what is an already beguiling live show.
4. Space Dimension Controller (live)

Proclaimed lord of galactic funk, Belfast-raised Jack Hamill aka Space Dimension Controller is a master of high-octane synth house and pumping acid sounds. If you want to get an idea of festival energy levels, check out the last 20 minutes or so of his AVA Boiler Room above - a set that went down in the channel's history books.
3. PINS

Sitting somewhere between Hole and The Black Keys, PINS bring their gritty rock and roll sound to the Saturday of Electric Fields. Formed in Manchester in 2011 from a weariness of being the 'token girl' in male led bands, the grunge pop four piece have already released two studio albums. Their Bad Thing EP came out in January and featured vocals from no other than Iggy Pop, a fine accolade to say the least.
2. Dizzee Rascal
When Dizzee Rascal left grime behind nearly a decade ago, few predicted it would go on to become the hugely culturally enriching genre it's since become. So the stakes were understandably high when it's long lost son delivered another album after 2013's underwhelming The Fifth.
Luckily the result, Raskit, means he clearly got the memo, the nasal icon spitting with more fury and articulated venom than ever before. As such the chance to hear a Dizzee, always a festival darling, with this renewed vigour is an opportunity not to miss.
1. Glass Animals
With pop hooks oozing out of everything they do, Glass Animals are the ideal choice for a festival love in. With the likes of 'Life Itself' and 'Youth' up their sleeve, there's a lot to love when the Oxford group take to the stage. If the group did need any more validation, their 2016 record How To Be A Human Being, on which the aforementioned tracks feature, has recently been unveiled as a Mercury Prize nominee; high praise indeed.
With dance friendly rhythms and a whole load of charm, a good time is guaranteed at a Glass Animals gig - making them our number one must see act at Electric Fields.
