Taking place every Saturday to a consistently full house in the decadent underground party den that is Mint Lounge, Funkademia serves up a weekly all-you-can-eat banquet of unadulterated soul, funk, disco, hip hop and house classics to a crowd of the city's friendliest party people.

With the night recently winning a prestigious lifetime achievement award from The Manchester Evening News, we caught up with founder Dave Payne to delve into the clubnight's rich history, and find out how Funkademia has managed to remain at the forefront of the city's night scene for an unbelievable 16 years.
