Essential Listening: House and Techno
Poppin’ - Hannah Laing
Hannah Laing dropped her EP, Into The Doof, last Wednesday (24th July). Filled with bangers including ‘I Need It More’, ‘Tell Me’, and ‘Ibizacore’ (check that out if you haven’t already), we added ‘Poppin’’ to the playlist as it’s a banger. And we also reckon most of you have heard ‘Ibizacore’ already.
Probably our favourite of the six-track EP that explores a few different sounds, ‘Poppin’’ is the epitome of Hannah’s sound. Fun, bouncy, and addictive, it was love at first listen.
Hannah just keeps levelling up with each release. If you want to see her magic for yourself, secure yourself some tickets for one of her events. One thing that’s certain is the crowd will definitely be poppin’ off.

Ode To Clio - Man/Woman/Chainsaw
Man/Woman/Chainsaw will release their six-track EP, Eazy Peazy, on Fat Possum in November. ‘Ode To Clio’ is the taste of what it’ll offer.
London-based Man/Woman/Chainsaw is one of the hottest emerging acts right now. Blending punk, noise, and pop sounds, the quintet, despite having not released anything but singles, has already grown an impressive following.
With pianos, strings, fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, and lots of noise, ‘Ode To Clio’ is a mess. But a beautiful, organised one. Slide into this track and let it take you where it wants to.

Jungle Diva - Lens and Sarah Ikumu feat. Pola & Bryson, goddard
What. A. Link up. For this belter, Lens, the Brighton-based DnB machine, joined forces with Sarah Ikumu (who got the golden buzzer on Britain's Got Talent in 2017). Featuring Pola & Bryson and goddard, we’ve got some of the best new-gen DnB talents in one place.
Following her massive jump-up track ‘After Party’, Lens proves she can bring pure fire in jungle, too. Packed with some seriously energetic percussion, incredible basslines, and of course Sarah’s perfectly matched vocals, this one’s relatively simple but still packs a punch.
Give it a spin, and check out where you can see Lens live below.

Clarity - Nubya Garcia
Following the release of her lead single ‘The Seer’ last month, Nubya Garcia is back with another taste of her forthcoming album, Odyssey, which is due for release on 20th September on Concord Jazz. 'Clarity' is about wanting transparency with people.
Opening with cinematic strings, a piano joins before the track employs a more jazzy sound in its percussion. Heavenly and evocative, the track is the embodiment of escapism. If you’re looking to get away, this is the perfect song to spin with your headphones on with your eyes closed.
Check Nubya Garcia out at Wild Fields Fest - tickets below. She'll be performing on the main stage on the Friday at 17:45.
