Essential Listening: House and Techno

Calling - Hannah Wants & Jem Cooke

House powerhouse Hannah Wants is back with another banger. Are we surprised? No, not at all. We love having an artist we can rely on to smash it out of the park with each release.

Dark, bassy as hell but still euphoric and somewhat hypnotising, Wants and Cooke have penned the soundtrack to our next sunny holiday. Equally suited for poolside chilling, sweaty rave antics, and late-night drives, we’ve fallen head over heels for this one.

He's a Man - Bob Vylan

Our favourite punk/grime fusion duo is back! With He’s a Man, produced by Soft Play’s Laurie Vincent, Bob Vylan take stabs at gammon men, the Stella-chugging kind that worships the queen, is casually sexist, and “loves a chicken korma but hates the hands that cook it.”

Taken from their upcoming album Humble As The Sun, due for release in April next year, the lads have proven they’re here to stay, continuing to churn out hard punk bangers to scream along to at the top of your lungs.

Come Down - Disrupta

With the original track seeming to be heavily influenced by The Streets with its lyrics, vocal delivery, and that cheeky, bouncy guitar riff, Disrupta’s remix has given it some serious weight.

The remix is announced with that robotic toad croak bassline… you know the kind we mean. Fuzzy as hell with those crackly electronic warbles, Disrupta has taken a track with loads of personality and injected even more chaos into it.

Infinity Fill Goose Down - Aesop Rock

Aesop Rock is due to release his concept album Integrated Tech Solutions on /the 10th of November, marking his first solo album since 2020. Infinity Fill Goose Down is the third taster we’ve had for the album so far. And all three have been incredible.

Having not always produced his own tracks, it’s great to see Aesop’s productions just getting better and better. Better still, his flow and lyrics are on point too. Banger.
