Essential Listening: House and Techno

People In Love - Mason Collective X Bipolar Sunshine

From the underground to the biggest stages in the world, Mason Collective make their Defected Records debut with a wobbly, deep groove.

The Mancunian trio linked up with fellow Manc Bipolar Sunshine, creating a track that, as soon as that bass comes in, you know will be severe on huge club speakers. A little trippy in the synth embellishments but maintaining that groove with percussive elements complimenting that chunky bassline.

Released following the trio soundtracking some huge parties in Ibiza at Ushuaia, Hi, and Paradise, it’s incredible to see how far they’ve come from being local promoters.

Essential Listening: Indie and Alternative

Be That Girl - Coach Party

Melancholic and pained, Coach Party’s Be That Girl is a track that’ll be loved by fans of The 1975, especially those who prefer their rockier tracks.

Tinged with a slight Stone Roses-type ambient wistfulness, the Isle of White band has described the track as “one of the more inward and self-reflective songs on the record, and the one with the softest sonic edges.”

Their debut LP, KILLJOY, dropped on the 8th and has been praised for its vulnerability, angry moments, and ambition. Check that out or just jump in head first and secure your Coach Party tickets below.

Essential Listening: Drum & Bass and Jungle

City Lights - ozone & Diagnostix remix

If the original somewhat cinematic track by Sigma wasn’t heavy enough for you, this remix from Diagnostix and ozone will most definitely hit the spot for those who crave a bit of carnage in their drum and bass.

Swapping the strings for a seriously chunky bass and kicking it up a notch with a build before dropping into some more mad distorted bass that we reckon could shatter the foundations of clubs with hefty speakers.

If ADHD was a DnB track, we reckon it’d probably be this one with loads of thumpy kicks, heavy distortion, sirens, marching drum snares, spinbacks, arpeggiated synths, laser sounds, and so many other layers of sound.

Essential Listening: Hip-Hop and Jazz

One Shot - Mathematik

Raw, laidback, and sonically heavenly, how Mathematik isn’t bigger than he is is absolutely lost on us.

On this new track, Toronto’s Mathematik talks of his legendary status (as a member of Down ta Erf) and being honest in his lyrics over a transcendental instrumental.

One Shot is the last single taken from Mathematik’s upcoming album, Mathuniversal. Dropping “in a few days”, we don’t have a solid release date, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open for this one described as an eclectic album with ten tracks and nine instrumentals.
