As the weather is warming up, we at Skiddle HQ are obligingly turning the heat up on our Festival Focus. Showcasing our unique and market leading Festival Finder, we have narrowed down the search criteria to Pop Festivals in July for under £130!
It’s these kind of customisations that will ensure you find your perfect festival this season! Anyway, enough about that. What Pop/Mainstream festivals are there for the bargain price of under £130 in July? It just so happens that there are a choice of two that we particularly like the look of, and you’ll no doubt see why.
First up, we have Cumbria’s crowning glory, the festival with a Napoleon complex, the small but big hitting Kendal Calling.
The beautiful Lowther Deer Park, not far from Penrith, plays host to some of the brightest names in pop music past and present, including dance music veterans Basement Jaxx, Scottish rock legends Primal Scream, hip hop mainstays Public Enemy, folk and blues maverick Seasick Steve and Irish pop punk rockers Ash to name just a few. Add to that ex Smiths guitarist and British icon Johnny Marr and a DJ set from none other than Mike Skinner, a.k.a The Streets, and you’ve got one hell of a lineup on your hands. Add into the mix that this is one of the most fun and quirky festivals on the calendar, featuring art installations, an impressive array of comedy, spoken word, and a stunning dance lineup, and Kendal Calling is surely one of the small festival highlights of the year, and a bargain at its price.

Our other hot choice would have to be Scotland’s fabulous Wickerman Festival.
With each passing year, the Dumfries and Galloway spectacle buries itself further into our hearts, as its winning combination of great atmosphere, stunning location, and cracking music continue to leave a pleasant lasting impression. This year shall be no different, as headliners will include Primal Scream, KT Tunstall, The Enemy, Public Service Broadcasting, and punk legends The Rezillos and Stiff Little Fingers. The intriguing, melodious King Charles will also be putting in an appearance, as will 80’s pop icons Dexy’s.
Add to all that a top notch dance music lineup including Kissy Sell Out, Dave Clarke, Elite Force & Meat Katie, and all the bases are covered for another fantastic weekend in the Kirkcudbrightshire countryside. With our own interest in the festival, we at Skiddle get pretty excited about the Skiddle.com presents dance tent, selecting only our favourite lineup, which as yet shall remain unnanounced. Rest assured you can expect big things!
