As family friendly festivals go, none come close to matching the audacity, ambition and stature of Camp Bestival.
Coming out from under the shadow of its older brother Bestival on the Isle of Wight, Rob and Josie Da Bank have set about curating a festival aimed squarely at the family unit, and have done an incredible job of showcasing an event that can appeal to each and every age group. Check out last year's highlights below to see what we mean.
Family festivals usually sacrifice a quality line up, not so with Camp Bestival, housed in the picturesque grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset from July 31st - 3rd August.
This year alone sees British dance music icons Basement Jaxx, Long Island hip hop veterans De La Soul, ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, longstanding Irish pop starlet Sinead O'Connor, Manchester rockers James, double Brit Award nominee Laura Mvula and ex Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook and The Light.
The festival also features a banging line up of DJs too for the family ravers out there, with appearances penned in for Boy George, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, David Rodigan, DJ Yoda, Wilkinson and main man Rob Da Bank himself.
Those that were there to witness Sasha's epic set at last year's edition will know the score - an endless display of quality, grown up music, delivered in such a way that nobody feels left out. Read the full Camp Bestival line up here.
True to form, the theatrical menu too features an inimitable selection of surefire hits with the kids, with the likes of Horrible Histories, Mr Tumble, and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 50th Birthday takeover all destined to enthrall, whilst the plethora of attractions include more fancy dress parties, circuses, and interactive workshops than you thought possible.
Its looking like another classic installment of the Dorset festival - everything we've come to expect from Rob Da Bank and gang, and then some. There's no wonder that Camp Bestival has been on the receiving end of a landslide of Festival Awards in its career. Head here to grab your Camp Bestival tickets.
