Macclesfield punk duo The Virginmarys have announced a February tour of the UK as well as releasing the first of this summer's festivals at which they will appear. The band will play at Jacaranda Records Phase One in Liverpool on Sunday 17th February and at The Flapper in Birmingham on Thursday 21st February. They will also take part in the 2019 edition of the Camden Rocks Festival, which will be held in London on the weekend of 1st and 2nd June.
Since forming in 2009, The Virginmarys have been one of the great hopes of northern English guitar music. Their energetic and impassioned performances, which drew heavily from punk music, were immediately noticed and the band were marked as ones to watch. Their early Eps sold out consistently, in a manner reminiscent of the birth of Manchester's Stone Roses.
The Virginmarys released their debut album King of Conflict in early 2013, following it in 2016 with the follow up Divides. The band are one of a select number of current British artists who share a punk ethos and who address sociological and political themes within their songs. Coupled with a committed live presence, it frequently makes their shows vital and vivid occasions. Their 2019 dates will take place in support of recently released third album Northern Sun Sessions.
