September is a great time for ravers; the start of silly season in clubland. The slow winding down of Ibiza and festivals means the UK circuit suddenly gets a glut of great events, whilst there's still enough of the summer lingering if you want to wring more out of the White Isle and frolicking in fields.
Clubs up and down the land start re-opening for business, including Edinburgh's Nightvision and Manchester powerhouse The Warehouse Project, alongside landmark one offs like Drumcode's annual Halloween showcase. But where do you begin?
Our writers have combed through the swathes of events on offer to give you our humble opinion on the best dance music acts you should be checking out when the leaves turn brown and the nights grow longer.

Right now Marea Vierge-Noire, known to many as The Black Madonna, can do no wrong. She's wondrously articulate in interviews, gloriously enthusiastic behind the decks and each set sees her reach ever newer audiences - it's impossible to watch the above few seconds of her playing at Dekmantel's Greenhouse without getting an irresistible urge to party.
This month she'll be touching down in Bestival, where her wildly oscillating journeys through house, techno and disco are sure to be the perfect soundtrack for a few days escapism in the Isle of Wight.

A proponent of authentic techno throughout his distinguished career, the formidable Dutch selector has been a firebrand of rugged club sounds since breaking through in 92. While techno continues to evolve, his insistence on sticking to the raw, frenetic body music of the genre's origins is a joy to behold. Anyone that's caught him in action will know he makes a habit of whipping ravers into a primal fervour that few can match.
He joins Joel Mull and Shinedoe at Egg London on September 3rd, we can only imagine how great his incendiary style of techno will sound thundering out of the custom built Flipside rig the club is famed for. Brace yourselves.

If you're into grime, bass, techno and garage, then NTS's Madam X should tick a lot of your boxes. The Manchester native has completed a series of BBC 1Xtra residency shows, and she even covered for Diplo back in 2014.
Fresh off the back of her Outlook Festival gig, September sees Madam X play her hometown for The Warehouse Project launch party with David Rodigan, Jungle and more. If you're keen to see some local talent at this year's WHP, make sure you don't miss her.

The experimental party starter has switched up the sound of Scandinavia and 2014's It's Album Time followed an already established career as a quality remixer. When his live shows are this club-ready, we had to pick him as a highlight from a milestone event like MoS.
Expect this and much, much more when the Norwegian heads up the celebrations at Ministry Of Sound's 25th birthday party on Saturday 3rd September.

You only have to take a look on Patrick Topping's Twitter to see the mass of messages he gets after a set, many of which shower him in praise and most of which claim it's the best set they've seen this month, or even this year. He's more in demand then ever, and his popularity is completely justified.
The Hot Creations favourite is as skilled behind the decks as he is in the studio, and with an abundance of festival dates now completed, it's time Topping played some smaller club sets. He hits Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh on Thursday 8th September before hitting Circus' 14th birthday later in the month.
