Creamfields 2014 is just around the corner and the line up is bigger and better than ever. Cream itself is a massive institution, a household name in the world of dance music, and with decades experience ensuring that artist listings are harmonious, it's hardly surprising that they're able to pull something so spectacular out of the bag each year.
Each arena and stage is filled to the brim with the best names in electronic music, so we pondered, what artists will stand out and create those never-forget, spine-tingling moments at this year's festival? For this week's Five For The Funk, we offer our thoughts on the matter.
Prydz and festivals go together like strawberries and cream. The epicness of his sets is entirely suited to large scale events; the extravagant production, the size of the crowd and the atmosphere all go hand in hand with his dreamy and emotive track selections.
So many of the melodic, dulcet tracks that feature in his sets are a result of his own careful craftsmanship (check out his track 'Liberate' above). The Swedish born DJ oozes authority when behind the decks, making it effortless for him to enrapture a crowd, and musically send them to places they've never been before.
A DJ synonymous with UK garage, EZ has never lost his spark, despite being on the scene for over 20 years. He secured legendary status after hosting some of Kiss Radio's most popular shows, showcasing the best in garage, bassline and old skool classics.
EZ's sets deliver a string of blasts from the past, tracks that you completely forgot about and absolutely love, delivered in his own unique style (check out his Mixmag Lab set above). Who doesn't want to hear Daniel Bedingfield's 'Gotta Get Thru This' while jumping about on a field?
The duo from London have not only taken their chosen music scene by storm, but they have also stumbled across the charts on the way. After reaching number four in the UK singles chart with 'Ready For Your Love' (listen to it below), the twosome proved how accessible their soulful, garage-laced, house music is.
With so many hits under their belt, Gorgon City have secured a solid, loyal fan base. The direction and substance of their sets means not only can they send crowds into frenzy with monumental drops, they plaster smiles across faces. They are guaranteed to make an impact with the Creamfields crowd.
Davide Squillace, Matthias Tanzmann and Martin Buttrich make up the members of the newly formed super group. Each one has had a profound influence on the house and techno scene and each one has flown the flag for some of the most influential labels including Crosstown Rebels and Desolat.
Their sets are filled with attitude, pushed forward by hard beats but happily accompanied by grooves. There's no shortage of Balearic sounds either, the trio to take elements from their own experiences and tastes, then combine them to create something extraordinary. There's something truly special about this alliance.
It's not that often that dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke makes his way over to the UK for a gig, but boy oh boy is it a treat when he does. His bass-heavy, forward thinking music is more often than not layered with futuristic sounds (listen to 'Dood' below), making his sound highly distinguishable.
His sets are fast paced, energetic and filled with tracks that make you pull the most extreme bass faces. If you're looking for a set with a bit of added 'oomph', look no further than VonStroke.
