Cream resident Anthony Probyn delivers five of the records that mean the most to him with regards to tone of the world's most iconic clubs.

Jimmy Coultas

Last updated: 24th Apr 2015

Last year plans were announced to see two of Liverpool's most reverential venues closed in favour of development, as news that the Kazimier and Nation could be shut down was met with vociferous disapproval by generations of clubbers.

The likelihood is that the writing is now sadly on the wall for both these institutions, with the Kazimier announcing their final ever show at the venue would be 1st January 2016. Cream have pointed out the end for them at Nation could come sooner, with their Bank Holiday show on Sunday May 3rd potentially the final ever showcase the brand puts on at Nation.

With the powerhouse emblematic of clubbing across the globe, we caught up with long time resident Anthony Probyn to discuss some of his most magical experiences in the hallowed rave cauldron.

Mansun 'Wide Open Space' (Perfecto Mix)

A track synonymous with Paul Oakenfold’s legendary residency in the Courtyard. I spent months trying to track this down on 12” as it was a promo only release, when I finally found it the guy selling had two unplayed copies so I bought them both.

Trancesetters 'Roaches' (Peace Division Remix)

Proper Annexe material, this track always remind me of the importance of a resident choosing good warm up tracks. Paul Bleasdale championed this record and it epitomises everything that is good when you turn up early for a Cream night.

Laurent Garnier 'The Man With The Red Face' (Jan Driver Mix)

A real “if all else fails” record that has dug me out of the dirt on more than a few occasions. Instantly recognisable to almost any clubber and a track that truly transcends genre and age, there are a few different remixes that have appeared over the years but this is number one for me.

Eric Prydz 'Everyday'

Eric has been a Cream favourite from when he first exploded onto the scene and is a regular fixture at our Ibiza events (including this year where he is Exclusive resident).

I can remember him dropping this at one of our Cream and Radio 1 parties in Ibiza and the place went ballistic, I’ve kept a copy on my play list ever since.

Alison Limerick 'Where Love Lives'

This track is one of the original Cream classics and still sounds as good today as it did when first released. Sometimes a record manages to capture the feeling around the origins of something special and If you are looking for the track that says “Cream” from the last 23 years, this is it.
