As one of the hottest imprints in underground techno at the moment, Rødhåd's celebrated Dystopian Records has in its three year tenure become a breeding ground for high end, reduced techno full of power and brute force, but with a melancholic side that makes it just that bit more special than most.

Its roster boasts a supremely skilled set of artists, producing everything from driving peak time club killers to washed out, hallucinogenic dub techno. Ahead of the eagerly awaited Dystopian showcase in London on May 3rd (more on that here), we caught up with the man himself to find out which five tracks he thinks best reflects the Dystopian sound.

Rødhåd 'Newspeak'

DYSTOPIAN 001

What can I say? My first track on the first Dystopian release. For me and my crew this whole release was a milestone - dealing with pressing plants, distribution and mastering for the first time ever not to mention myself in the studio working and working and working on that release!

I was so happy when I held the finished result in my hand. By the way, some represses are available in 2015 of this record. Check our online shop.

Recondite 'Cleric'

DYSTOPIAN 003

Maybe one of the most played techno and open air tracks in 2013 and 2014. With that track Recondite was finally on the map for everyone. But who would ever thought this track would get more than one million Youtube clicks? We certainly did not!

Felix K - Stone Edge (Pär Grindvik Remix)

DYSTOPIAN 005

A lot of people play the other remix from Function, but don't forget this pearl from Pär Grindvik. He took the original Felix K track and transformed it into a modern techno version with a groove perfect for dancefloors across the world.

All Dystopian Artists 'Soliloquy 2 x EP'

DYSTOPIAN 010

To choose a specific track is really difficult, so I can only recommend checking the whole compilation out. All of the Dystopian artists contribute a track each - for us it was a milestone release after these three years. There's such a huge mix of tracks on there.

Daribow 'Apostles Of Flame'

DYSTOPIAN 011

This is our latest EP, and a new name on the map. I'm really proud of the whole EP as it brings a new common style to the label. This is the Dystopic sound at its best.
