The town of Camden in London is steeped in cultural history. From its markets to its music, the area is a constantly bustling area with heaps of attractions and top venues. Fortunate then that a music festival takes place there annually, bringing a plethora of guitar wielding acts to the capital to deliver fierce riffs, hollering vocals and sweat soaked singalongs.
In the past the likes of the Cribs, The Subways, Bullet For My Valentine and more have all brought the noise to Camden, and this year's Camden Rocks line up is also bursting with big name talent, set to tear the roof of any venue. Ahead of the one dayer, which hits various venues on Saturday 3rd June, we've selected five acts who we predict great things from.
When we caught up with Jon McClure earlier this year, he promised us the forthcoming Reverend and the Makers album is full of bangers, with 'Too Tough To Die' in particular proving to be a favourite with the band already. We're looking forward to hearing the new track get a live outing ahead of the release, as well as Rev and co delivering their usual high octane show with certified anthems such as 'Bassline' 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' and most recent album Mirrors at their disposal.
Find The Damned tickets
The goth punk icons were at the forefront of the genre's revolution in the 1970s, with massive single 'New Rose' viewed by many as the first punk record to break into the UK top 40. Throughout their careers, the Croydon based outfit went from punk pioneers to purveyors of all strands of guitar music including prog, psych and meta. Their Camden Rocks slot offers up the chance to witness true rock and roll heroes in action over 40 years since their formation.
Find Carl Barat and the Jackals tickets
The Libertines man formed the Jackals via a ruthless audition process that, musical talent aside, looked for band-mate compatibility more than anything else. The result was a raucous outfit with an endless bank of riffs at their disposal, and a punk attitude that adds a certain amount of grit to proceedings. Their debut record Let It Reign dropped in 2015 however earlier this year the group have delivered a string of singles, adding to a rip roaring repertoire that guarantees a severely hoarse throat and the type of rock and roll angst Barat has always been capable of igniting.

"It's got a CD player, PLAYER, PLAYER, PLAYER, PLAYER, PLAYER, PLAYER" Be honest, how could you go this year's Camden Rocks and not want to holler out 'Buck Rogers' with your arms round a randomer and pints spilling all over you. Of course, the Welsh outfit aren't just a one trick pony with an extensive back catalogue that has seen them produce multiple alt rock anthems throughout the '00s. Their headline slot is without doubt one to watch as the group roll back the years and serve up some top class noughties nostalgia.
Find Pulled Apart By Horses tickets
The band are fresh from supporting the Cribs as they ended their Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever tour with a huge homecoming show in Leeds. Also hailing from the Yorkshire city, Pulled Apart By Horses bring fierce fretwork and punchy pop choruses to the table, as well as a fondness for dirty driving tones and an echoing menace. Expect excessive headbanging and air guitar aplenty when these boys take to the stage in London.
