With the fast paced goings on at the Skiddle office we love a festival to wind down too, and somewhere that does absolutely that is Weyfest. The supremely laid back, family friendly festival, set in the picturesque Surrey Hills is the perfect festival to get away for the weekend, and to make it even easier for you we've picked out our five must see acts.
First up we've picked out Brit award nominees The Feeling who'll bring the festival vibe with their charming pop rock and catchy lyrics, that'll without doubt get belted out by the crowd. Their on stage presence paired up with memorable hits 'Fill My Little World' (above) and 'Never Be Lonely' are sure to get Weyfest rocking.
Pioneering nineties electronica band The Orb are laying down some house music, and every festival needs a party, right? The Orb will bring just that with their dub inspired beats that brought the likes of 'Little Fluffy Clouds' in the early days right on through to the more recent 'Captain Korma', confirming the bands ability to move through the ages swaying dance floors along the way.
We couldn't look beyond The Undertones for their massive hit 'Teenage Kicks' alone, and many will agree including the late, great John Peel who labelled it as his favourite record ever. The Northern Ireland punk rockers are sure to add an extra kick to the weekend, playing hit after hit taking many punters back to their teenage youth.
Big Country have delivered a back catalogue of big hits over the years and continue to celebrate 30 years of success, our favourite Big Country anthem has got to be the guitar led bagpipe influenced hit 'Fields Of Fire', perfectly fitting for a festival of this kind.
In line with the fun filled festivities, who themselves would also rather have a day out with the family, in Margate (sorry) we've picked out Chas and Dave. The cockney knees up duo, will add some light-heartedness to the festival with eighties classics 'Rabbit' and 'Ain't No Pleasing You' amongst many others, perfectly embracing the festivals spirit.
