Established back in 2012, the City Sound Project has brought top class acts to Canterbury by the bucketload year on year for a cultural celebration like no other.
Taking place across multiple venues in the city, including the medieval Westgate Towers and 18th century Greyfriars Chapel, a heap of live acts and DJs will deliver all-conquering sets, covering all manner of genres in the process.
Previous headliners include Duke Dumont, Slaves, Hannah Wants, Bastille and George Ezra, while the City Sound Project 2017 lineup sports yet another glut of big-name artists, all descending upon the city between Saturday 29th April and Sunday 30th April. We've picked the top five acts who are set to deliver in Canterbury over the bank holiday weekend.
Spring King

The Manchester-based garage rockers had a massive 2016, releasing their debut album Tell Me If You Like To as well as establishing themselves as a ferocious live act. Picture them spanking their guitars and hollering wildly in a sweatbox in Canterbury and tell me you don't feel even the slightest pang of excitement.
Henry Lewis
Hidden Charms
The London rockers ooze dirty, bluesy goodness from every pore whilst plentiful elements of shimmering psychedelia add further dimensions to the band's sound. With truly immersive numbers such as 'Long Way Down' and 'I Just Wanna Be Left Alone' at their disposal, Hidden Charms will have you in the palm of their hands.

Detlef

Amongst the smattering of clubnights and rave-ups at the festival is the presence of Greek wunderkind Detlef, who through a slew of productions on Hot Creations and Steve Lawler imprint VIVa Warriors has become one of electronic music's feted names. Think gilt-edged house grooves with swagger, exactly the kind of tackle you want to be indulging in as the festival reaches the final hours.
Jimmy Coultas
Rude Kid
Grime fans, stand up - this festival isn't just guitar bands. If an artist's list of collaborators is anything to go by, then this one surely won't disappoint. Having worked with the likes of big British emcees Wiley, Skepta, Kano, JME and Ghetts, it's safe to say that Rude Kid's dirty beats are not only appreciated by those currently killing it in the grime scene, but they offer something completely fresh to one of the most explosive genres.
Lorna Gray
Nadia Rose
It comes as no huge surprise that this artist refers to herself as a magician as Croydon rapper Nadia Rose seems to have surpassed the experimental stage that most emcees undergo and gone straight onto creating a raw and unique sound that embodies maturity. It's difficult to comprehend that this artist - who was shortlisted in BBC's Sound of 2017 - is only 23, but when it's known that she's the cousin of grime superstar Stormzy, it begins to make sense - there's obviously something in the family bloodline.
