With Liverpool being an absolute cesspool of talent it's not an easy task to pick out the best bands in the city. FestEvol Gardens has given it a pretty good go though, with some of the hottest and freshest talent making an appearance at this year's all-day event. In a brand new venue, with three stages, there's a lot of amazing talent to chose from this bank holiday weekend.
Having had previous headliners such as Juliette and the Licks, Blossoms and Steve Mason, this day of exciting live music always brings the finest acts to the city of Liverpool. This year sees huge headliners Wild Beasts joining the likes of The Parrots and The Sundowners. You can check out the full FestEvol line up here.
If you're still undecided on who to go and watch, here's are our picks of the hidden gems of FestEvol 2017. You'd be silly to miss these five amazing acts.
Her's

Although now local to Liverpool, the dynamic duo responsible the jangly indie pop sound of Her's originate from places miles apart. Norway and Barrow to be exact, but we're grateful they had the chance to meet and create such a versatile and quirky brand of dream pop that's enough to transport you to a summer's day. Their debut single 'What Once Was' hears influences from the likes of Mac DeMarco as well as the surf-rock of FestEvol debut-ers and Heavenly Records signees The Parrots.
If that's not a convincing enough statement to make you want to watch them, just listen to their polished recordings, sounding like a band who have been together for years, this relatively new twosome know exactly how to sell dreamy indie pop.
Pink Kink

If you're a fan of glitter, bad ass chicks and all things fun, then this band will fulfil your kink desires without you first having to divulge your credit card details. Pink Kink have taken the city by storm in the short time they've been together, with no music released yet, they still manage to draw in an impressive crowd at their shows. They've supported fellow FestEvol performers PINS, as well as The Moonlandingz and they're about to make their third headline show in the sister city of Manchester.
This year they'll hit the stage at FestEvol, no doubt glitter-clad and singing songs about pizza, bubble butts and being generally fierce. They'll definitely be making everybody move to their funky pop beats and since there's no recorded proof of their brilliance, you're just going to have to watch them to find out for yourself why we've picked this band as one not to miss.
The Blinders

Apart from Cabbage (who are massive fans of the band), you'll struggle to find a more riotous outfit across the country. With strong political messages, a never say die punk attitude, fierce riffs and rallying vocals the young trio are set to tear up festival season, as well as the music scene, and their show at Festevol is a perfect opportunity to catch them in action.
Henry Lewis
Pulled Apart By Horses

The Leeds rockers are a serious live force with a glut of guitar heavy records at their disposal. Their latest, The Haze, came out in March of this year and has won plaudits for it savage ferocity and reckless abandon. Powerful pop choruses are Pulled Apart By Horses' speciality and couple this with raucous fretwork and gargantuan drumming and you've got a seriously fierce end product.
HLThe Strawberries
Since their live debut was supporting FestEvol headliners The Sundowners and having shared stages with the likes of The Courteeners and The Kooks, Leeds outfit The Strawberries are already experts in drawing in a crowd. Combining classic rock n roll with bluesy riffs, psych style drones and vocals that you'd be forgiven to mistake as The Coral's, the band are an exciting mix of elements that can be fully appreciated as a whole entity live.
