It's almost here. Liverpool Music Week, the city's premier festival of live music lands between Wednesday 26th October and Friday 4th November. LMW epitomises all that is going in Merseyside, year round, as it continues to thrive culturally under the stewardship of all the hard-working folk involved.

Even more so, Liverpool is continual a hotbed of emerging and established artists, which is represented on a stupidly diverse roster involving international touring heavyweights. Behold, five acts we think you should definitely check out across its 10 day stretch.

Warpaint

In what could be perceived as Warpaint's 'Madonna' moment, funky pop jam 'New Song' practically stole the back end of summer and propped the LA gang back into the mindset of many. It was of course the first snippet of their latest record Heads Up, a slight step-away from their moody cool aesthetic with an emphasis on snapshotting their live sound - all in the name of the Warpaint sisterhood.

They head up an equally awesome opener at The Dome, Grand Central Hall supported by Liverpool's very own All We Are - who channel  dancefloor inflicted, dreamy sonics that make for one of the most anticipated bills of the entire festival.

The Big Moon

Spearheading DIYs breaking out roster, The Big Moon are by definition, a band who have broken out and proceeded to smash the circuit to smithereens. Nearing the verge of dropping their debut album, the all-girl troupe from London needn't have any worries about it being a make or break moment - an unmistakable bond matched by let-loose punk-pop that glues grit to glamour is an assured formula for future success.

Notorious 'Horror Master', acclaimed director and gatekeeper of producing strikingly thrilling film scores, John Carpenter brings his works to life at Olympia Theatre. Famed for films such as Halloween, Escape From New York and Vampires, the director is responsible for birthing Mike Myers - which is more than enough to give us the chills ahead of this landmark Halloween epic.

She Drew The Gun

The winner of Glastonbury 2016's Emerging Talent Competition, She Drew The Gun pulled in plaudits with their socially aware lyrics delivered beautifully by lead singer Louisa Reach. This insight is best heard on 'Poem' which makes for powerful viewing when performed live (watch above).

The release of their debut album Memories Of The Future was followed up by an appearance in the John Peel Tent at Worthy Farm, although the Wirall band should feel more at home when they come to Leaf on Sunday 30th October.

The self proclaimed 'hard-hitting jazz meets electronica Manchester three piece' are having a storming year. They released their studio third album Man Made Object back in February. Their live performances are simply mesmerising with all three members demonstrating exquisite technique and achieving the simply impossible on-stage.

This culminated in two sold out shows at Band On The Wall earlier this year and the group have been rewarded with the biggest show in their home city to date when they play the O2 Ritz on Wednesday 9th November. With that in mind, their show at the Arts Club eight days earlier is a chance to see a group at the peak of their powers.
