Richard Ashcroft has announced details of his first new album in six years after revealing a new single 'This Is How It Feels'.
A cryptic message from the ex-Verve front man hints at the political tone of the new record, which will be called These People, with Ashcroft claiming: "my lane in the chaos becomes clearer. To be a modern day troubadour," adding "some personal and world events take a darker turn leading to a sense of urgency and a clearing of the mind."

The album tackles topics such as the war in Syria, the Arab Spring uprisings and the death of a close friend because, as Ashcroft’s statement reads, "to do nothing would be a crime in this sick nihilistic age of war."
No live dates have been confirmed as yet but Ashcroft did play a number of acoustic sets last year including a solo performance in front of 30,000 people at Mexico's Corona Capital Festival in November.
These People is released on 20th May 2016.
