Well what a month its been at Funkademia. Not only did we have one legend in the form of David Dunne returning but we also had Dave Haslam smashing the dance floor on the 29th.

Each week has been a sell out with the norm being one more chanted by the faithful at 3.30am. We take real pride in the booking of our DJs and each and every one of them has a real personality and all are very approachable. Here at Funkademia towers we are always on the look out for some of Manchesters best club nights to collaborate with and June is no exception.
Saturday June 19th is a big night for Funkademia. El Diablos Social Club Neil Scott returns to Mint Lounge. Neil is one of the most in demand DJs in Manchester at the moment and he was also resident for the Electrics Nish Nash Nosh night that ran for four years at Mint Lounge, so we are very happy to get him back on at Funkademia. With a full schedule recent weeks have seen Neil travel to Leeds, Poland and back to Liverpool, this summer he is also on the road playing the festival circuit, Glastonbury and The Big Chill included. In the backroom we have a night that is relatively new to the scene but is attracting a lot of attention in all the right places. Following on from guest DJ spots at The Ruby Lounge and South Nightclub, Chris and Nicola make the trip across town from Joshua Brooks with their night Good Vibrations to make a Funkademia debut and host the back room.

Saturday June 5th : Kid Blast, Jon Bus Stop and Mark Hogg

Whilst Mark Hogg from The Slamming Boys takes over the back room for our monthly house party, expect soulful house classics from labels such as Master at Work and Soulfuric, big vocal tunes that were much loved at Manchester nights such as The Redlight, Home and Angel Deellite.
Saturday June 12th: Jason Vereker and Vinyl Frontierz
Jason Vereker may be better known for his house sets and his residency with the huge Hed Kandi Records, but his love of all things soulful and funky go way back. Expect a heavy dose of disco, with some hip shakin funk and a few Manchester classics thrown in for good measure. The girls are back in town with Laura Newington and the crew taking over room two for the ever popular Vinyl Frontierz night, big party action with an eclectic soundtrack.
Saturday June 19th : Neil Scott, Les Croasdaile and Good Vibrations
Neil is one of the most in demand DJs in Manchester at the moment, head honcho for the very successful El Diablos Social Club that is now at The Deaf Institute, he was also resident for the Electrics Nish Nash Nosh night that ran for four years at Mint Lounge. Following on from guest DJ spots at The Ruby Lounge and South Nightclub, Chris and Nicola make the trip across town from Joshua Brooks with their Good Vibrations night to make a Funkademia debut and host the back room.
Saturday June 26th : Trafford Lovething, Northern Funk Special with Myk Nolan.
Many will remember the now legendary Carwash nights at the Man Alive club that Trafford used to host, well the spirit and the legend live on for the night. Trafford is very popular with the Funkademia crowd as he spends just as much time on the dancefloor as behind the decks, his outfit for the night is always a topic of debate on the internet before the event, last months pirates outfit was a firm favourite. We build on last months re-launch of Northern Funk from local soul selector Dave Hulston, keeping the music a bit more funk soul for the specialist music lovers in room two this month is Myk Nolan.
