Future Preston to bring sci-fi classics to the city

This Autumn Future Preston will be showing a number of science fiction films across the city for a six week period, using the ideas and themes generated by the four classic moments of cinema to transform Preston into a vision shaped by the hopes and dreams thisgenre has often explored

Utilising a variety of venues in and around the city and an interactive experience that relates directly to the film, the programme will begin with Steven Spielberg's family classic from 1982 E.T The Extra-Terrestrial on Saturday 18th October (watch the trailer above), including a special bike ride towards the venue.

Next up will be 2012's peer into a dystopian future where authority abuses all, with Dredd on Saturday 25th October involving a transformation of Preston into Mega-City One with live music, DJ sets and a conversation with Carlos Ezquerra, creator of the comic books that inspired the film.

Another film with an equally bleak outlook on the future is Logan's Run, showing on Saturday 22nd November. The seventies masterpiece looks at a world where a blissful existence is overshadowed by only one fact - everyone must die at the age of thirty.

The final showing also returns to 1982 for another children's classic, Disney's Tron on Saturday 29th November that sees Jeff Bridges sucked into a Computer programme, the film famously remade in 2010 with a scintillating Daft Punk soundtrack.
