As the brains behind one of the most influential record labels in recent history, Busy P has since the mid nineties been playing a pivotal role in evolution of French dance music.

From managing Daft Punk back in 1996 to setting up Ed Banger Records in 2003, bringing the likes of Justice, DJ Mehdi, Riton, Mr Oizo and Boston Bun widespread notoriety, the Frenchman's vision of electro and house has continued to be one of the most sought after on the scene.

With an eagerly awaited guest appearance for Boysnoize Records' tenth anniversary on May 3rd, we caught up with the charismatic auteur to find out more about the man behind the music in our brand new 'Getting To Know...' feature.

The most important thing on my rider is…

A magnet for my fridge, a stamped postcard for my mum, and a bottle of Hendricks Gin.

The best place in the world is…

Paris of course! We even created the brand 'Club 75' for the love of our city.

My first obsession was…

Snow globes. I was lucky to travel all around the world with my parents.  I think I had more than 100 in my bedroom.

The last record I listened to was…

Hudson Mowhawke 'Ryderz'. He's one of the most exciting producers around, I've been following him for a while now.

The perfect meal is…

The one with the right person front of you.

The best movie ever made is…

'Clerks' by Kevin Smith.

My most treasured possession is…

Some Daft Punk test pressings.

The best DJ in the world is…

Not only because he was my best friend, but DJ Mehdi was the best DJ in the world - a DJ that could spin hip hop, house, techno and some Bob Dylan all at the same time. A DJ who dances his ass off can’t be wrong. He truly was the best.
