In line with the release of his new album Ghostpoet is setting off on a tour of the UK & Ireland. Spread across eight dates in April, his voyage starts in Dublin at The Button Factory on Wednesday 1st and ends at Electric Brixton on Thursday 9th.
Taking a down tempo approach to rap, Ghostpoet combines sharp lyricism with looping electronic beats to execute a distinct sound that was picked up by Brownswood, the imprint of Gilles Peterson. That link up led to his debut foray, Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam, which was nominated for a Mercury Prize.
In more recent times, the MC dropped his third album, Shedding Skin, which will take centre stage throughout this tour. Featuring numerous collaborations including Lucy Rose and Nadine Shah , it intensifies his ever evolving soundscape (which we witnessed last time) aided by his live band.
Highlights from the album like the sauntering 'Off Peak Dreams' (above) will be well appreciated within the wide scale intimacy of the host venues. With predictably plenty of tricks up his sleeve for his live set, we predict Ghospoet to revel once more in some of the UK and Ireland's most musically cultured venues.
